I graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2009 and went straight to work. The economy was down so I had 3 part-time jobs until I landed my first corporate gig in 2010. After the birth of my son in 2012, I continued climbing the corporate ladder until 2017 when I realized it just wasn’t for me anymore. I had done the big companies – FedEx, JB Hunt, Walmart – and always excelled in administrative and leadership roles, but I was missing two major things – flexibility to be with my family and the opportunity to utilize my creativity.
I’ve heard happy employees are the biggest producers and I fully believe that. I am a mother, a work horse, a creative and a planner. I don’t think there was ever a reason to have to choose one over the other, so I decided to take a MAJOR leap of faith. I left my desk job in May of 2017 to spend the summer with my son before he started Kindergarten. Family has always been important to me and I knew I could never get this time back. I started freelancing, and planned on returning back to full-time work once he started school in the fall, but by the time August rolled around I knew I had found my calling in what I was building. Double X Designs was born and has been in full-swing ever since!
